Main St., from 9 to 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, and 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Organizers have expanded The Signature to run on two dates due to popular demand.
“We are excited about the finale show for our sixth season and partnership with The Human Race Theatre Company,” said Sierra Leone of Oral Funk Poetry Productions. “As an Off-Broadway revue, this is the first time we’ve hosted a two-night run. This show will highlight the exact meaning of a ‘poetic medley.’ This production will be an exclusive unplugged experience, as we are working with a local choir. We are very excited to work with all of the artists involved.”
The December show, titled “Signature Acoustic,” is being co-produced  and presented by Oral Funk Poetry Productions and The Human Race Theatre Company. The University of Dayton’s ArtStreet is a partner for this show. Tickets for The Signature’s seventh season will go on sale March 17, 2014.
“Creativity will be at an all-time high during these two nights,” said Lee Croxx of Tripple Croxx Entertainment, which produces The Signature. “World-renowned Broadway HBODef Jam poet Vanessa Hidary, known as the ‘Hebrew Mamita,’ will headline the show. Emmy-nominated HBO Def Jam poet Jon Goode will join the cast. Internationally acclaimed violinist Shaw Pong Liu will take the stage, and the divinely inspired Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Young Adults Acapella Choir will give a soulful guest performance. This promises to be the biggest explosion of arts and entertainment this year.”
Spoken word artist, author, actress and director Vanessa Hidary grew up on Manhattan’s culturally diverse Upper West Side. She has appeared three times on Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry Jam on HBO and is featured in short film The Tribe. Hidary’s popular poem tackling Jewish stereotypes and identity titled “The Hebrew Mamita” debuted on  Def Poetry Jam and quickly went viral, garnering nearly half a million YouTube hits. She has conducted poetry and racism workshops with numerous youth groups and received an MFA in acting from Trinity Rep Theatre Conservatory. She lives in Manhattan, where she recently published her first collection of poems and stories titled The Last Kaiser Roll in the Bodega.
