“The Signature: A Poetic Medley Show” Hosts Patrons’ Night Out
Dayton, Dec. 5, 2011 – Tripple Croxx Entertainment and Oral Funk Poetry Productions will wrap up its fourth season of “The Signature: A Poetic Medley Show” from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at De’Lish Café, 139 N. Main St. with a “patrons’ night out.” The event will feature free hors d’oeuvres, drink specials and live entertainment.
“We are celebrating our patrons and their continued support of urban creative arts,” said Sierra Leone of Oral Funk Poetry Productions. “Patrons’ Night Out is to celebrate those in the Dayton area who have been supporting our efforts to create an official genre for urban creative arts in this area and our efforts to highlight great local, regional and national performing and visual artists.
Patrons’ Night Out also is part of events held in December to celebrate the one-year anniversary of De’Lish, which has free valet parking.
During its fourth season, “The Signature” was presented at The Loft Theatre in collaboration with the Human Race Theatre Company. The fifth season will open April 20, 2012, at The Loft Theatre.
“The Signature: A Poetic Medley Show” features local and national poets, musicians, actors, vocalists, dancers and visual artists presenting numerous forms of self-expression ― often to sold-out crowds.
“’The Signature’ has earned a reputation across the Midwest for being edgy, thought-provoking and engaging,” Leone said. “Our goal is to cultivate an atmosphere that will connect the artists’ desire to create with a community that wants to nurture that creativity.”
Past seasons also have included the annual Regional Academic and Cultural Collaborative (RACC), which spotlights urban arts and entertainment while giving Dayton-area students an opportunity to connect with some of the industry’s top names. Hip-hop heavyweights Common and Lupe ― and, this year, Black Thought of The Roots ― have discussed their work at RACC.
